Nathan Lyon likely to start in unchanged Australia team

Darren Lehmann is likely to keep Nathan Lyon in an unchanged Australia team for the third Ashes Test despite considering a number of changes.

Darren Lehmann has admitted that he is unlikely to change his Australia team for the third Test of the Ashes and is poised to name Nathan Lyon to face England.

The host's head coach had been considering a change in the lineup despite winning the first two Tests of the series, harbouring the potential idea of replacing spinner Lyon with pace bowler James Faulkner on the quick WACA surface.

"We'll have to look at the wicket first and foremost, see what it's like," Lehmann told the Cricket Australia website.

"If we think it warrants Faulkner playing and the four quicks so be it. But, look, it's going to be hot weather here - it's 35 degrees and getting up to 40 on Monday - so I think we'll play the spinner.

"Again, we've got to work out who has pulled up fit from the last Test match, so we'll see what happens. Spinning-wise you'll get the foot marks day four, day five. You'll get a bit of turn out of there. Spinners here normally get the bounce more than anything."

Australia can win back The Ashes and end a run of three straight series losses to England with another victory in the third Test, which gets underway at The WACA in Perth on Friday.
