Mitchell Johnson "very proud" to have taken 300th Test wicket

Mitchell Johnson admits that he is "very proud" to have taken his 300th Test match wicket against England at Edgbaston.

Australia bowler Mitchell Johnson has admitted that he is "very proud" to have joined an exclusive club, after taking his 300th Test match wicket yesterday.

The left-armer bowled a fast bouncer to get rid of Jonny Bairstow at Edgbaston, and he has become just the fifth Aussie bowler to have passed the milestone.

He told Sky Sports News: "I'm very proud. You always want to win a Test, but when you get these kinds of accolades it's very special."

The 33-year-old also thanked Aussie great Dennis Lillee, who helped scout Johnson when he was a teenager.

He added: "To be up there with some of the Australian greats is something I'll be able to sit back and reflect on when I'm finished. Dennis has been a huge help throughout my career. He's a great mentor and a great man."

Johnson made his Test debut in 2007.
