Merv Hughes: 'Mitchell Johnson needs his moustache for Ashes'

Merv Hughes urges Mitchell Johnson to regrow his moustache ahead of Australia's Ashes campaign in England.

Australian legend Merv Hughes has suggested that Mitchell Johnson needs to regrow his moustache ahead of the Ashes, as it is a good luck charm.

Johnson's facial hair was very visible when he took 37 wickets during the 2013/14 series Down Under, which saw the Baggy Greens beat England 5-0.

However, Hughes has argued that Johnson needs to bring back the moustache ahead of the first Test in Cardiff.

He told BBC Sport: "He bowled very well with it so I'd recommend he gets it back - it's sort of like a horseshoe it brings good luck!"

Hughes took 212 wickets in 53 Tests for Australia.
