The British pairings of David Florence and Richard Hanslow and Tim Baillie and Etienne Stott reach the semi-finals of the men's canoe double.

The two British pairings endured mixed results during the second round of the men's canoe double at the London Olympics this afternoon.

David Florence and Richard Hanslow, who finished the opening round in 10th with a time of 108.23, moved themselves up to seventh in the rankings with a run that was over seven seconds quicker second time around.

However, a time of 100.44 from fellow Brits Tim Baillie and Etienne Stott saw them drop from third to fourth.

Slovakia's Hochshorner brothers, who are widely considered to be the best pairing that the sport has ever produced, are currently in second place with a score of 97.52.

They trail France's Gauthier Klauss and Matthieu Peche, who are on 96.98 after the two heats.

Both British pairs have qualified for the semi-finals, which take place on Thursday.
