British canoeist Jon Schofield "fighting to win" gold with Liam Heath

Great Britain canoeist Jon Schofield admits that he and partner Liam Heath will be "fighting to win" the men's kayak double (K2) 200m final tomorrow.

Great Britain canoeist Jon Schofield admits that he will be fighting for gold after he and Liam Heath qualified for the final of the men's kayak double (K2) 200m at the European Games.

The pair, who took gold at the canoeing World Cup earlier this month, finished second in qualifying, and Schofield is hoping that he and Heath can match that achievement in Baku.

"In the final we'll be simply fighting to win. We have a game plan that we want to execute to perfection and that will get us down the course as fast as possible," said Schofield, according to the official Baku 2015 website.

"We want to get out smoothly, go hard and fast and reach our top speed as quickly as possible. Then it's all about maintaining speed until the finish line."

The final of the canoe sprint will take place tomorrow.
