Belarus claim women's kayak double gold

Belarus pair Marharyta Makhneva and Maryna Litvinchuk secure gold in the women's K2 200m kayak doubles at the European Games.

Belarus have secured a narrow win in the women's K2 200m kayak doubles event at the European Games in Baku.

Marharyta Makhneva and Maryna Litvinchuk completed the course in 37.399 seconds, finishing just ahead of Serbia's Nikolin Moldovan and Olivera Moldovan.

Less than 0.4 seconds separated the top three, with Ukraine's Marita Povkh and Anastasiia Todorova coming in third in a time of 37.719 to secure the bronze medal.

Slovakia's Ivana Kmetova and Martina Kohlova set a Games-best time in the semi-finals, but struggled in the final, finishing in ninth, more than two seconds behind their nearest rivals.
