Joe Cordina 'in best shape of life'

Wales boxer Joe Cordina says that he is in 'the best shape of his life' after advancing into the semi-finals of the Commonwealth Games.

Wales boxer Joe Cordina has said that he is in 'the best shape of his life'.

The lightweight spoke to Sports Mole following his quarter-final win over New Zealand's Chad Milnes at the Commonwealth Games.

"Yeah, the last time I boxed [Milnes] he was pretty much the same, he stood off, he tried to look for the left hook, which he did in that fight," said Cordina.

"I watched him with the other boys and he steamed straight in, so I was expecting him to come straight at me, but he did the same as the last fight, which was standing off.

"It is the best shape I have ever been in, at the start I was questioning it, but now I can honestly say that I am in the best shape of my life. There is no pressure because I am just here to do a job. Win or lose I just go out there and give my best and hopefully that is good enough to win the gold medal."

Cordina will face Charlie Flynn in the semi-finals on Friday.
