Muhammad Ali 'was prepared for fast start'

Team GB boxer Muhammad Ali claims that he was 'prepared' for his opening-day opponent at the 2015 European Games, Alexandr Riscan, to make a fast start to their fight.

Team GB boxer Muhammad Ali has revealed that he expected a fast start from Alexandr Riscan in his first bout of the 2015 European Games.

Ali beat the Moldovan 3-0 to book a spot in the last 16, where experienced Italian Vincenzo Picardi, who won bronze at the 2008 Olympics, is waiting.

The 18-year-old has revealed that he was more than prepared for Riscan to start fast in Baku, and it did not take long for the youngster to assert his dominance.

"I knew he was going to start fast and it was all about getting through that first round. I wanted to assert myself and I thought that I managed to do that," Ali told reporters.

Flyweight Ali will face Picardi on Saturday evening.
