Reece McFadden vows to take positives

Scotland bronze medallist Reece McFadden vows to take the positives from his performance at the Commonwealth Games this summer.

Scotland boxer Reece McFadden has vowed to take the positives from his performance at the Commonwealth Games this summer.

McFadden secured a bronze medal earlier in the week, but missed out on the chance to make it gold after losing to Australia's Andrew Moloney in the semi-finals on Friday.

When questioned by Sports Mole, the Scot said that he will "definitely" look back on his exploits with pride.

"Definitely, 100%. It is a bronze medal in the Commonwealth Games, I am absolutely delighted with that, but I thought I could have gone all the way," said McFadden.

"I thought I just actually nicked that last round, I was busier in there, but that is what happens – boxing is corrupt. He's a tough boy, it was a close fight, but I thought I did enough to win it. Other people might think otherwise, but I am that type of guy.

"I said to his face that I didn't think he had the fight, I thought it was mine, so did my coaches, but he worked for it. He is a tough boy, but I am just gutted that I haven't got through to the final."

McFadden lost to Maloney on a split decision.
