Brian Rose suffers defeat to Demetrius Andrade

British light-middleweight Brian Rose falls short in his bid to win the WBO title after being stopped in the seventh round by Demetrius Andrade.

British light-middleweight Brian Rose has failed in his bid to win the WBO title after he was stopped in the seventh round by Demetrius Andrade.

Rose had secured the first world title opportunity of his career with victory over Javier Maciel in October, but he was no match for his undefeated opponent at the Barclays Center in New York.

The 29-year-old hit the canvas in both the first and third rounds, and although the Blackpool-based fighter made it to the middle rounds, the bout was brought to an halt with Andrade landing at will during the seventh.

The defeat was Rose's second of a 28-fight career, while Andrade improves his professional record to 21 successive victories.
