Claressa Shields says that her undisputed super-middleweight fight with Savannah Marshall can match that of Katie Taylor versus Amanda Serrano.

Claressa Shields has talked up the prospect of her undisputed super-middleweight clash with Savannah Marshall matching the profile of the bout between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano.

Last month, Taylor and Serrano headlined at Madison Square Garden, the pair putting on one of the most exciting fights in women's boxing history on the biggest stage.

On that occasion, each of the world lightweight belts were up for grabs, and Shields and Marshall find themselves competing for the same prestige at a higher weight in September.

Although the majority, if not all, will insist that Taylor and Serrano's fight was bigger, Shields feels that her own attempt at achieving further greatness should put the fight on par with its predecessor.

The American is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "With how great I am, and how she's built up to be this knockout artist - that's why this fight should be happening in London."

Shields added: "I don't have respect for anybody who didn't earn it and for anybody who didn't work hard. I give credit to someone who actually has the accolades and has the belts. I'm not a three-time world champion, I'm a 12-time world champion who's fought in three different divisions since I've turned professional."

The clash is currently due to take place at a location in England on either September 3 or September 10.
