Lee Selby to defend IBF featherweight title against Eric Hunter

Welsh featherweight Lee Selby will face Eric Hunter in the spring after the American was named as mandatory challenger for the IBF title.

Welsh featherweight Lee Selby has been informed that he will defend his IBF title against Eric Hunter in the spring.

After defeating Fernando Montiel on points in October, Selby had been awaiting the winner of the final eliminator between Hunter and Jonathan Victor Barrios, but that contest was scrapped after Barrios opted to face another opponent.

That left Hunter in position to meet Selby in what is expected to be a testing mandatory defence for the Barry puncher, with his American opponent only losing by disqualification or on a split decision in 24 bouts.

Selby won the title when he dethroned Evgeny Gradovich at London's O2 Arena in May.
