Amir Khan's defeat to Danny Garcia does not put his future in the sport in doubt, according to his promoter Richard Schaefer.

Golden Boy promoter Richard Schaefer has claimed that fans still want to see Amir Khan despite his loss to Danny Garcia in Las Vegas.

Khan was defeated by the unified world champion Garcia on Saturday night but Schaefer believes that the British fighter's future is not in doubt.

Schaefer told BBC Sport: "In the United States, fight fans and sports fans like to see fighters like that.

"They will certainly come back for another Amir Khan fight because he equals excitement.

"He's 25 years young and has great fights ahead of him."

British boxer Carl Froch has claimed that Khan should retire following his defeat to Garcia.
