Amir Khan's trainer Freddie Roach has said that he knows Mustafa Ameen, who was seen at the fighter's title fight last month.
The Bolton-born fighter was defeated in controversial circumstances by Lamont Peterson last month.
However, Khan appealed against the decision, citing the apparent influence Mustafa Ameen was having over one of the judges. The appeal appears to have been successful, with a rematch due to be scheduled soon.
Now Freddie Roach has admitted that he knows Ameen and believes there was "no reason for him to be at ringside".
"He comes to my gym," Roach told BBC Sport.
"He goes to gyms and talks to other people's fighters. But he does know the boundaries because he doesn't go after my fighters.
"[Ameen] has no credentials; he's not a member of any boxing organisation. There's no reason for him to be at ringside. Why he was ringside and why he was in the ring afterwards celebrating and so forth I have no idea."
Roach entered the International Boxing Hall of Fame this year.
