Floyd Mayweather Jr has revealed that he has granted a rematch to Argentine fighter Marcos Maidana, with the pair scheduled to face each other on September 13.
Earlier this year, the undefeated American was given one of the toughest fights of his career by Maidana before outclassing his opponent in the second half of the fight to record his 46th professional victory by majority decision.
The pound-for-pound king stated in his post-fight press conference that he would be happy to face the South American again in the autumn, and it now appears that a second Las Vegas bout is close to being officially confirmed.
Speaking at the 2014 BET Awards, the 37-year-old said: "September 13, it's back to business - Floyd Mayweather versus Marcos Maidana part two.
"Then in May, I will be fighting again. I have a big surprise for you, so everyone tune in."
British welterweight Amir Khan has previously stated that he would like to face Mayweather in May.
