Wladimir Klitschko suffers calf injury, fight with Tyson Fury delayed

The world heavyweight title fight between Wladimir Klitschko and Tyson Fury is delayed after Klitschko suffered a calf injury in training.

A calf injury to world heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko has resulted in his showdown with Tyson Fury on October 24 being put back to a later date.

Klitschko had been scheduled to face mandatory challenger Fury in Dusseldorf at the end of next month, but on Thursday, the Ukrainian injured a tendon in his calf, resulting in the bout being postponed.

German newspaper Bild quotes Klitschko's manager Bernd Bonte as saying that a new date for the clash, which must take place due to Fury's mandatory status, will be announced next week.

The match will still take place at the ESPIRIT Arena, which possesses a retractable roof allowing the fight to be held during the winter.
