Anthony Joshua anticipates competitive test against Gary Cornish

Anthony Joshua reveals that he anticipates a "competitive" contest with Gary Cornish when they clash for the Commonwealth heavyweight title on September 12.

British heavyweight Anthony Joshua has revealed that he is anticipating a "crazy atmosphere" for his first title fight against Gary Cornish next weekend.

The duo will clash for the Commonwealth belt at London's O2 Arena, and despite stopping all of his opponents inside three rounds, Joshua believes that he will be in a "competitive" bout with the undefeated Scot.

The 25-year-old told Sky Sports News: "It's a big fight and there will be 14,000 or 15,000 people attending. The atmosphere is going to be crazy and my first major title is on the line.

"Gary Cornish is a big guy, he weighs about 18 stone and he has never been defeated, even as an amateur. He doesn't know losing, he has the winning mentality, especially where there is a Commonwealth strap on the line as well.

"He is going to come with pride and will want to take that belt back to Scotland, so it is going to be really competitive."

If Joshua comes through next week's encounter unscathed, he is scheduled to fight for the British strap against Dillian Whyte on December 12.
