Eddie Hearn: 'Anthony Joshua happy to face Wladimir Klitschko'

Promoter Eddie Hearn says that he has approached Wladimir Klitschko's team regarding a possible clash with Anthony Joshua on November 26.

Promoter Eddie Hearn has suggested that Anthony Joshua would be happy to defend his IBF heavyweight title against Wladimir Klitschko on November 26.

On Friday, it was revealed that the rematch between Klitschko and Tyson Fury would not take place after Fury was declared "medically unfit" to compete on October 29.

However, with Joshua still looking for an opponent for his return to the ring in Manchester at the end of November, Hearn has acknowledged calls for the Olympic gold medallist to face the former unified heavyweight champion.

Earlier this week, Hearn said that New Zealand's Joseph Parker was the frontrunner to take on Joshua, but it now appears that trying to make a mouth-watering showdown with Klitschko will take top priority.

The pair are on good terms, with Klitschko having given Joshua the opportunity to spar with him ahead of previous world title fights, but with Fury sidelined and WBC champion Deontay Wilder out injured until 2017 and obligated to face a mandatory challenger, Joshua facing Klitschko is the biggest heavyweight fight that can realistically be made until next summer.
