Eddie Hearn: 'Anthony Joshua could face David Haye in 2015'

Promoter Eddie Hearn believes a heavyweight showdown between Anthony Joshua and David Haye is a possibility for 2015.

Promoter Eddie Hearn believes that Anthony Joshua will be ready to face a fighter of the calibre of David Haye at the end of 2015.

Joshua, who won gold in the super-heavyweight division at London 2012, competes in his ninth professional fight against Denis Bakhtov in London on Saturday, but Hearn is already targeting a meeting with Haye, who has previously held the WBA heavyweight title.

Hearn is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "In the world of boxing and particularly in this country, a fight between David Haye and Anthony Joshua in 2015 is a stadium event.

"It's a huge, huge fight with massive potential and I think again at the rate that Anthony is progressing - by the time the winter comes round in 2015 - these are the guys that Anthony is going to be facing.

"If he wants to win world titles, these are the guys he has got to demolish on the way and I'm sure that he will demolish these guys as well. I don't think anything is going to stop him."

Should he overcome Bakhtov, Joshua will face Michael Sprott in Liverpool on November 22, while Haye has previously stated that he intends to return to the ring before the end of the year.
