Amir Khan is in talks to face WBA interim-welterweight champion Diego Chaves in his next fight,
the Argentine has claimed.
An assignment against Chaves would represent a step up in weight for Khan as he searches for a comeback fight before the end of 2012.
Chaves said: "I have a few days to think about two options for my next fight.
"There is an interesting proposal to face the Englishman Amir Khan. I do not know where and I am not sure how much [money].
"I have to think about it and it is necessary to see the numbers. He wants to move up to Welterweight and it is a very interesting proposal."
Khan has left trainer Freddie Roach following his knockout loss to Danny Garcia in 2012, and is believed to have chosen Virgil Hunter to take over as his new coach.
