Former undefeated world champion Joe Calzaghe has blasted Carl Froch over comments that he is the best British fighter of recent times.
Froch, who beat Mikkel Kessler last weekend to unify the super-middleweight division, claimed it was between him and Lennox Lewis for the title of top British boxer.
The Welshman, who also unified the super-middleweight division before retiring unbeaten, has claimed that Froch is "delusional".
"It's an absolute joke of a comment," said Calzaghe. "The guy is delusional if he believes that.
"Carl is not even the best super-middleweight in the world today. He's a good fighter, but I was better.
"It's pathetic to try and write your own legacy. It's not up to me to judge where I am, or for Carl to judge where he is. It's for others to decide. I'd like to just let it go, but that to me is an attack on myself and several other great British boxers."
Froch is currently targeting a rematch with Andre Ward, as he aims to become the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world.
