Anthony Joshua targets bout with Dereck Chisora

Anthony Joshua claims that meeting Dereck Chisora is the best option for him following his victory over Dillian Whyte.

Anthony Joshua has revealed that he would prefer to meet Dereck Chisora in his next bout after extending his undefeated record as a professional.

The Olympic champion knocked out Dillian Whyte in the seventh round of their clash at The O2 Arena on Saturday night for his 15th successive victory.

Joshua's fast rise has seen reports suggest that he could be on course for a meeting with world champion Tyson Fury or the returning David Haye, but he believes that facing Chisora is a better decision at this stage of his career.

When asked by Sky Sports News whether a bout with Chisora was his preference, the 26-year-old replied: "Why not? I could fight Haye, people want me to fight Fury, but you can't just come into professional boxing, show a little talent and be thrown in the deep end.

"I don't need do-or-die type fights yet. I need to build myself so that when I get to the top I have been in deep waters, done 12 rounds, been hurt and come back. That is how people become champions."

Chisora, who has lost to both Haye and Fury, recorded a third-round win over Jakov Gospic on the undercard of Joshua's bout on Saturday.
