Canada boxer Custio Clayton looking forward to Commonwealth Games

Canada's Commonwealth Games boxer Custio Clayton believes that he is ready to compete for the medals this year.

Team Canada boxer Custio Clayton has revealed that it is an "honour" to be in Glasgow to represent his country in the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Clayton, who was eliminated from the London 2012 Olympic Games in the quarter-finals by Great Britain's Fred Evans, said that his training has gone well so far and he is fully ready to compete for the medals.

"It's a great honour to be here in Scotland," he told Sports Mole. "We've had a training camp for the last week-and-a-half, and training has been going great. To come here into the village yesterday was great, seeing people was beautiful.

"Scotland has been a great place to see so far. We've been training very hard going into the Games and everything we've done so far has been great. We're ready to perform and show Canada that we're here to bring home some medals.

"It's an honour just being here. I was on the team in Delhi, which was my first Commonwealth Games and that was a great experience. I'm looking for this one to be an even bigger one. I've got a lot to achieve and I'm looking forward to [reaching] those goals."

Clayton is a six-time Canadian amateur champion but has yet to win a medal at an international Games.
