Great Britain lose in wheelchair basketball bronze-medal match

Great Britain lose to the United States in the wheelchair basketball bronze-medal match.

In a repeat of last Paralympics' bronze-medal match, the United States have this time overcome Great Britain, leaving the hosts empty-handed.

The Americans started strongly and by the end of the first quarter they had a lead of 17-10, Steve Serio top-scoring with eight points.

America continued to keep the home side at bay in the second period, extending their lead in a low-scoring quarter to go in 29-20 at the half.

GB came out for the third quarter in stunning fashion, as Terry Bywater started to come into his own and his two points levelled the scores at 29-29.

However, the United States rallied and ended the third quarter with a six-point advantage of 39-33.

The fourth period went comfortably in the US's favour, with the final score 61-46 to the visitors, ensuring that Britain finish in fourth.
