Great Britain's men's basketball team lost 67-62 to their Brazilian counterparts this evening.
Team GB looked to be on course for the win when they led the match with just over two minutes remaining.
However, the Brazilian team rallied with a succession of baskets to claim victory from the opening match of the Games for the two teams.
Tiago Splitter was Brazil's major player, contributing 21 baskets to his side's overall tally.
Marcelinho Huertas and Anderson Varejao were also among the points scorers for the South American outfit.
British duo Nate Reinking and Pops Mensah-Bonsu scored 13 baskets apiece for the home team and Luol Deng added a further 12.
Britain's next match is against Spain, while Brazil face the Russians.
