San Antonio Spurs' Becky Hammon: "Leadership has no gender"

San Antonio Spurs assistant coach Becky Hammon admits that she was elated to see Nancy Lieberman and Jen Welter earn coaching jobs in the men's professional game.

San Antonio Spurs assistant coach Becky Hammon has revealed that she was delighted to see Nancy Lieberman and Jen Welter receive coaching jobs in the NBA and the NFL.

Hammon made history when she became the first ever female coach in the NBA upon being hired by the Spurs last year, but she has now been joined in the men's professional game by Lieberman at the Sacramento Kings and Welter at the Arizona Cardinals.

"I think anything is possible," Hammon told reporters.

"Just because something's never been done doesn't mean it can't be done. Leadership has no gender. The point is, do you know basketball? Do you know what it takes to lead people?"

Hammon had a 16-year career in the WNBA with the San Antonio Stars and the New York Liberty.
