Former Los Angeles Lakers center Shaquille O'Neal has bought a minority share of the Sacramento Kings.
O'Neal, who retired from professional basketball in 2011, had recently been acting as a mentor for Kings youngster DeMarcus Cousins.
However, his relationship with owner Vivek Ranadive has resulted in him buying a small part of the franchise.
The Kings decided against revealing how large the share is but they have confirmed that O'Neal will be unveiled as a member of the team's ownership group in a presentation on Tuesday.
O'Neal won three championship rings with the Lakers before adding a fourth with the Miami Heat in 2006.
