Phoenix Suns general manager concedes roster is guard heavy

Phoenix Suns general manager Ryan McDonough concedes that it is his fault that the team's roster is currently guard heavy.

Phoenix Suns general manager Ryan McDonough has conceded that the team's current roster is guard heavy, with three stars competing for two spots.

The Suns signed Isaiah Thomas last summer and he has been forced to compete with both Goran Dragic and Eric Bledsoe in the back-court this season.

"I think our roster balance is a little off, and that's my fault," McDonough told Arizona Sports 98.7 FM.

"We are a little too back-court heavy, especially in terms of guys who, you know, I think you'd define primarily as scorers in the back-court. So I think at some point we'll need to balance that out, try to get a little more size, a little more front-court scoring and rebounding."

Phoenix have gone 3-7 in their last 10 games, which has allowed the Oklahoma City Thunder to cut the gap for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference to just half a game.
