Los Angeles Lakers guard Steve Nash has announced his retirement, bringing an end to his 19-year career.
Nash has not featured at all this season due to injury problems and the eight-time All Star has decided to call it a day.
He said in a statement: "I will likely never play basketball again. It's bittersweet. I already miss the game deeply, but I'm also really excited to learn to do something else."
The 41-year-old won his two MVP awards in 2005 and 2006, while playing for the Phoenix Suns.
His total number of assists, 10,335, is the third most in NBA history.
