The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame has confirmed that David Stern will be a part of their 2014 class.
Stern retired from his role as the NBA commissioner earlier this month after spending 30 years making the key decisions in the league, and now he could be given a special tribute at the induction ceremony in August.
After leaving the NBA on the 30th anniversary of his appointment, Stern was replaced by Adam Silver, who backed for the post by his predecessor.
"He deserves to be recognized in a huge way," Jerry Colangelo, chairman of the Hall of Fame, said in a statement.
The full class of 2014 will be unveiled on April 7.
