NBA roundup: Brooklyn Nets stun Houston Rockets for first win of season

Sports Mole provides the lowdown on Wednesday night's 11 NBA games, that included a first win of the season for the Brooklyn Nets.

There was a big shock in the NBA last night as the previously winless Brooklyn Nets upset the Houston Rockets on the road in one of 11 Wednesday-night matches.

The Rockets were on a four-game winning streak, but fell to defeat as Bojan Bogdanovic's season-high 22 points off the bench led the Nets to a much-needed first win at the eighth attempt.

At the top of the Western Conference, the defending NBA champions are still yet to lose after recording their ninth straight win.

Reigning MVP Stephen Curry was again on top form with 28 points as the Golden State Warriors inflicted a fourth consecutive defeat on the Memphis Grizzlies.

There was late drama between the Charlotte Hornets and the New York Knicks and it was the hosting Hornets who claimed victory after Kristaps Porzingis's last-gasp three-pointer was deemed to have left his hands after the buzzer sounded.

Cody Zeller's layup with 0.6s remaining had given Charlotte the lead, but it looked like rookie Porzingis had stolen victory until the referees ruled that he had got the shot off too late.

The Orlando Magic won courtesy of a buzzer-beater at Amway Center as Nikola Vucevic's fallaway jumper landed to see off the Los Angeles Lakers.

Vucevic, who came off the bench for the first time in 224 games for the Magic after deciding at the last minute that he was fit enough to play, connected as time expired to help the Magic improve to 4-5.

LaMarcus Aldridge returned to Moda Center for the first time since leaving the Portland Trail Blazers for the San Antonio Spurs and helped his new team improve to 6-2.

Aldridge was the game's top scorer with 23 points as the Spurs cemented their place in second behind the Warriors in the Western Conference.

DeMarcus Cousins and Rajon Rondo starred as the Sacramento Kings overcame the Detroit Pistons for their first win in seven games.

Cousins had 33 points, while point-guard Rondo notched his second triple-double of the season with 14 points, 11 rebounds and 15 assists.

The Los Angeles Clippers suffered their third defeat of the season as Dirk Nowitzki put in a season-best performance for the Dallas Mavericks.

The veteran German posted 31 points and 11 rebounds to lead Dallas to a 118-108 victory that moves them to 4-4 for the season.

With Brooklyn winning, the Philadelphia 76ers are the only remaining winless team after they were beaten 119-103 by the Toronto Raptors.

Kyle Lowry had 23 points and eight assists as Toronto ended a three-game losing streak for their sixth win of the season.

The Denver Nuggets are also 4-4 after a one-point win over the Milwaukee Bucks at Pepsi Center.

Danilo Gallinari top-scored for the home side with 25 points, but needed his wayward late shot to be tipped home by Kenneth Faried to secure victory.

The Atlanta Hawks returned to winning ways with a 106-98 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans at Philips Arena.

New Orleans led by nine at half time, but the Hawks fought back as Al Horford's 26 points, that included 4-6 from three-point range, led the way.

At TD Garden, the Boston Celtics' two-game winning streak was ended by the Indiana Pacers, who eased to a 102-91 triumph.

Paul George led the visitors in both points (26) and rebounds (10) as the Pacers earned their fifth win in six games after starting the season 0-3.
