Carmelo Anthony advised to take time off

New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony reveals that he has been advised to sit out for a couple of weeks to rest his knee.

Carmelo Anthony has revealed that he has been advised to "shut it down" for a few weeks in order to allow him to rest his sore knee.

The New York Knicks forward sat out last night's defeat to the Chicago Bulls after the problem flared up during Tuesday's loss to the Dallas Mavericks.

He told ESPN: "I have multiple people say kind of just shut it down. Or just take time off. But at the end of the day, it's hard for me to just do that right now in the midst of what's happening with the team and this season. So just trying to be smart about that.

"It gets frustrating. Not knowing what's going to happen kind of with your body. So for me it's just taking it as the days come.

"Some days it feels like I can go. Some days it feels like I have everything. The other day it was a little sore in the first half and I didn't have no lift in my shot, and in the second half the lift came back a little bit. It's going to be off and on like that."

Anthony has averaged 23.4 points per game in 24 appearances for the Knicks this season.
