Governor Scott Walker agrees to new Milwaukee Bucks stadium

The Milwaukee Bucks are handed £160m of public money to build a new 17,000-capacity arena.

Wisconsin governor Scott Walker has committed £160m of public money to fund a new stadium for the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Bucks have been linked with a move to either Las Vegas or Seattle in recent months, but their future in Milwaukee has now been assured with the new 17,000 arena due to open in 2017.

The club said on their website that the announcement was "the culmination of an extraordinary effort from a broad coalition to not only keep the Bucks in Wisconsin, but revitalise Milwaukee".

The Bucks currently play at the 18,700 BMO Harris Bradley Centre.
