The Miami Heat maintained their perfect home record with Goran Dragic hitting 20 points in a 122-105 victory over the Golden State Warriors.
Miami made it eight wins from eight at the AmericanAirlines Arena with Tyler Herro coming off the bench to score 19 points and Kelly Olynyk 15.
As for the Warriors, the loss means they slump to 4-16 for the season and sit bottom of the Pacific Division with injuries to key players Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson taking their toll.
The Detroit Pistons went down to the Charlotte Hornets 110-107, with an ambitious midcourt shot from Langston Galloway at the buzzer coming off the rim.
It was the third match-up between the two sides this season which has been settled by three points or fewer, with PJ Washington pouring in 26 for the Hornets and Terry Rozier adding 23.
Giannis Antetokounmpo had another double-double for the Milwaukee Bucks, scoring 33 points and grabbing 12 rebounds in a 119-110 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers, while the San Antonio Spurs saw off the Los Angeles Clippers 107-97.
The Toronto Raptors won their sixth consecutive game with a 90-83 victory over the Orlando Magic, Norman Powell scoring 33 points, while the Brooklyn Nets saw off the Boston Celtics 112-107 and the Philadelphia 76ers defeated the New York Knicks 101-95.
There were also wins for the Utah Jazz, who beat the Memphis Grizzlies 103-94 and the Oklahoma City Thunder – 109-104 conquerors of the New Orleans Pelicans – while overtime was needed to split the Indiana Pacers and Atlanta Hawks, with the former edging the contest 105-104.
The Dallas Mavericks beat the Phoenix Suns 120-113, the Portland Trail Blazers saw off the Chicago Bulls 107-103 and Anthony Davis scored 26 points and snared 13 rebounds as the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Washington Wizards 125-103.
