NBA roundup: Memphis Grizzlies continue good form with victory over LA Clippers

Sports Mole rounds up Sunday night's NBA action, where the Western Conference pacesetters Memphis Grizzlies, Portland Trail Blazers and Golden State Warriors all won.

Marc Gasol starred for the Memphis Grizzlies as they continued their impressive start to the season with a 16-point victory over the Los Angeles Clippers.

Spanish center Gasol finished with 30 points and 12 rebounds as the Grizzlies improved to 12-2 for the season to go further clear at the top of the Western Conference.

At TD Garden, the Portland Trail Blazers extended the best winning streak in the NBA to seven games with a 94-88 victory over the Boston Celtics.

LaMarcus Aldridge led all scorers with 20 points and also pulled down 14 rebounds, while Jeff Green and Jared Sullinger had 19 points in defeat for the Celtics, who led by five at half time.

The Golden State Warriors kept pace with the Grizzlies and Blazers at the top of the West with a narrow 91-86 victory over the injury-hit Oklahoma City Thunder.

Marreese Speights scored 28 for his highest-scoring game in five years, while Reggie Jackson was two assists away from a triple-double in defeat.

The only all-Eastern Conference match of the day took place at American Airlines Arena and it was hosts Miami Heat who came away with a slim 94-93 victory over the Charlotte Hornets.

Luol Deng top-scored with 26 in the win while Chris Bosh added 20 points and 10 rebounds, including a late step-back jumper that caused a fifth straight defeat for the Hornets.

In the day's final game the Denver Nuggets won their fourth straight with a 101-94 overtime victory against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Kobe Bryant, who finished the game with 27 points, missed the chance to win it for the Lakers in normal time and they were then convincingly beaten 15-8 in the extra period. Ty Lawson starred for the Nuggets with 18 points and 16 assists.
