Memphis Grizzlies hit by stomach virus

The Memphis Grizzlies expect to be without up to seven players for their game against the Boston Celtics on Friday due to a stomach virus.

The Memphis Grizzlies have been hit by a stomach virus with up to seven players on the roster in doubt to play against the Boston Celtics on Friday night.

The franchise announced on Thursday that guards Tony Allen, Courtney Lee and Beno Udrih, forwards Jon Leuer and Jarnell Stokes, center Kostas Koufos and forward Quincy Pondexter are all ill and are listed as questionable.

Pondexter and Stokes are new additions to the list, while the other five stars did not play in the loss to the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday due to the virus keeping them away from the arena.

Meanwhile, Memphis also waived guard Kalin Lucas and center Hassan Whiteside on Thursday, just a day after signing them for protection in Toronto.
