Byron Scott: 'D'Angelo Russell still has a way to go'

Los Angeles Lakers head coach Byron Scott insists that D'Angelo Russell still has a way to go in his development despite high expectations being placed on the youngster.

Los Angeles Lakers head coach Byron Scott has insisted that youngster D'Angelo Russell has plenty of work to do before he can be compared to NBA legend Magic Johnson.

Russell produced a fairly efficient showing during summer leagues and his coach has stated that the point guard still has a number of improvements to make on his shooting and turnover percentages come the start of the new season.

"Let's make this very clear, Russell is not Magic Johnson," said Scott, according to Sporting News.

"Magic came on the scene, and instantly he is a Hall-of-Famer. D'Angelo has a way to go, there's no doubt about that."

Russell came out as the number two pick during the 2015 NBA Draft.
