LeBron James has broken an NBA Christmas Day record set by the late Kobe Bryant during the Los Angeles Lakers' defeat to the Brooklyn Nets.
The 36-year-old finished the festive encounter with a total of 39 points to his name - the 13th of which marked his 396th career point on Christmas Day.
In doing so, James has now become the NBA's all-time leading points scorer on the holiday with 422, as Bryant retired in 2016 with 395 Christmas Day points to his name.
Nets forward Kevin Durant - who missed the victory over the Lakers due to COVID-19 protocols - is the closest active player to James's record of 422 points in 16 Christmas Day games, having posted 299 in 10 games.
James also recorded nine rebounds, seven assists and three steals in the defeat to the Nets, with the Lakers now aiming to end a five-game losing streak against the Houston Rockets on Wednesday.
