Report: Blake Griffin has fracture in back

Blake Griffin withdraws from the Team USA roster in order to avoid doing further damage to a small fracture in his back ahead of the new NBA season.

Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin reportedly withdrew from the Team USA training camp after being advised to allow a small fracture in his back more time to heal.

Griffin was expected to play in the FIBA World Cup next month, but the medical staff suggested for him to rest in order to be ready for the next NBA season.

The Clippers star is expected to make a full recovery from the injury and his withdrawal is merely a precaution in order to avoid doing any further damage, ESPN reports.

Team USA have since called up Atlanta Hawks' Paul Millsap to bolster their front-court options after Kevin Love also withdrew from the team.
