NBA roundup: Wins for Washington Wizards, San Antonio Spurs, Denver Nuggets

Sports Mole rounds up all the action from Monday's NBA games.

The Washington Wizards moved above .500 for the first time in more than four years with a 100-90 win over the Portland Trail Blazers in the NBA.

John Wall added 22 points and Trevor Ariza scored 20, as the Wizards displayed a strong defensive performance at the Verizon Center.

The San Antonio Spurs also recorded a victory on Monday night, as they got the better of the New Orleans Pelicans 102-95 away from home.

Toni Parker scored 32 points in total, 21 of which came in the second half, and also provided nine assists to help his side overcome a 14-point deficit.

The Denver Nuggets won as well, but only just, as Brian Shaw's side eked out a one-point victory over the Los Angeles Clippers.

Blake Griffin scored 36 points for the visitors, but it did not prove to be enough as the Nuggets won the contest 116-115, thanks to a three-pointer from Randy Foye from the top of the key at the buzzer.

Kevin Durant was in top form for the Oklahoma City Thunder as Scott Brooks's team overcame the Memphis Grizzlies 86-77 at the Chesapeake Energy Arena.

The 25-year-old forward finished the game with 31 points, eight rebounds and eight assists, while Serge Ibaka had 21 points and 12 rebounds.

Meanwhile, the Miami Heat continued their good run of form as they registered a six-point victory over the Detroit Pistons.

LeBron James fell two rebounds shy of his first triple-double this season, but that did not prevent the hosts from winning for the fifth time in six games.

James scored 24 points and provided 11 assists, while Dwyane Wade scored 30 in Erik Spoelstra's side's 102-96 triumph at the American Airlines Arena in Miami.
