NBA roundup: Wins for Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers, Toronto Raptors

Sports Mole rounds up all the action from Monday night's NBA.

John Loyer has earned his first victory in the NBA as interim head coach of the Detroit Pistons, as they ran out 109-100 winners against the San Antonio Spurs.

It proved to be a comfortable victory for the hosts, for whom Brandon Jennings scored 21 points, while Rodney Stuckey and Greg Monroe added 20 and 15 respectively.

Marco Belinelli led the Spurs with 20 points, but his performance did not prove to be enough for Gregg Popovich's team.

The Indiana Pacers also picked up a victory on Monday, as they got the better of the Denver Nuggers at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

David West was the star of the show for the home side as he led with 25 points and helped them bounce back from Sunday's defeat to the Orlando Magic.

The 33-year-old power forward bagged 17 points in the first quarter of the contest to put the Pacers in control right from the start.

Meanwhile, the Toronto Raptors continued their impressive NBA campaign with a 108-101 triumph over the New Orleans Pelicans at home.

Patrick Patterson scored a season-high 22 points for the Canadian outfit, while DeMar DeRozan also added 22 and Kyle Lowry bagged a double-double of 19 points and 12 assists.

The Pelicans did give a good account of themselves at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, though.

Tyreke Evans's double-double of 23 points and 10 assists, Anthony Davis's 19 points and seven rebounds and Brian Roberts's 18 points all made sure that the Raptors were not certain of the victory until the very end.

Elsewhere in the NBA on Monday, the Boston Celtics cruised to a 102-86 away success over the Milwaukee Bucks, the Minnesota Timberwolves went down 107-89 to the Houston Rockets and the Philadelphia 76ers suffered a 123-80 defeat to the Golden State Warriors at the Oracle Arena in Oakland.

Results in full: Indiana Pacers 119-80 Denver Nuggers, Toronto Raptors 108-101 New Orleans Pelicans, Detroit Pistons 109-100 San Antonio Spurs, Milwaukee Bucks 86-102 Boston Celtics, Minnesota Timberwolves 89-107 Houston Rockets, Golden State Warriors 123-80 Philadelphia 76ers
