Report: Detroit Pistons eager to appoint Lionel Hollins

Former Memphis Grizzlies head coach Lionel Hollins will be approached by the Detroit Pistons, according to a report.

The Detroit Pistons have reportedly identified Lionel Hollins as their ideal replacement for Maurice Cheeks.

Cheeks was sacked from his role by the Pistons on Sunday with his side sitting in ninth position in the Eastern Conference.

Hollins could be approached over the next couple of days as Detroit look for a strong finish to the season as they target a place in the playoffs.

The Pistons have taken the decision to sack Cheeks due to the possibility of appointing the unattached Hollins, according to ESPN.

Hollins has been out of a job since leaving the Memphis Grizzlies last summer.
