The Detroit Pistons slump to their record-equalling 26th successive NBA defeat in a 115-126 loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday.

The Detroit Pistons became just the third team to suffer 26 successive NBA defeats in a single season as they went down 115-126 to the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday evening.

Monty Williams's side moved to within one game of matching that unwanted losing record on Friday, losing 111-119 at home to the Utah Jazz before travelling to New York.

An 11-point deficit from the first quarter ended up proving insurmountable for the Pistons to make up, as they equalled the longest-ever single-season losing run in the competition's history at Barclays Center.

Prior to the Pistons' horrendous record, the Cleveland Cavaliers lost 26 times on the spin in the 2010-11 campaign before the Philadelphia 76ers went down as many times in succession in 2013-14.

Williams's team are also now just two defeats away from matching the all-time NBA losing record, which is also held by the 76ers, who were beaten in 28 consecutive games in between the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons.

In Williams's first season as head coach, the Pistons now boast an abysmal 2-27 record to sit rock bottom of both the Eastern Conference and Central Division, and their most recent win came all the way back on October 28 against the Chicago Bulls.

Williams's team now welcome the Nets to Little Caesars Arena on Boxing Day before a daunting trip to the conference-topping Boston Celtics on December 28.
