Report: Brian Shaw loses job as Denver Nuggets head coach

The struggling Denver Nuggers reportedly fire head coach Brian Shaw.

The Denver Nuggets have reportedly sacked Brian Shaw as head coach.

According to the Denver Post, the 48-year-old leaves the Nuggets after six straight losses with the team third-bottom in the Western Conference on a 20-39 record.

In his first head coach job, Shaw missed the playoffs with the Nuggets last season - their first non-playoff campaign in 11 years - after enjoying a pair of NBA championships as assistant coach with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2009 and 2010.

Assistant coach Melvin Hunt will become Denver's interim head coach, according to Yahoo! Sports.

Shaw is the third NBA head coach to lose their job this season after the Sacramento Kings ditched Mike Malone and Jacque Vaughn parted company with the Orlando Magic.
