Kyrie Irving injures knee in Cleveland Cavaliers win

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving aggravates his knee tendinitis during the team's win over the Chicago Bulls.

Kyrie Irving has aggravated a knee problem after tangling with a teammate during the Cleveland Cavaliers' series-clinching win over the Chicago Bulls.

The guard was forced out of a 94-73 victory in game six of the Eastern Conference semi-finals after stepping on Tristan Thompson's foot, triggering the tendinitis that he was diagnosed with earlier this week in his left knee.

The 23-year-old told ESPN: "I stepped on Tristan's foot and my knee just kind of buckled. There's goes all that treatment out the window in the matter of a play.

"I'm looking forward to [resting]. These next days of rest are very vital to me to get ready for the Eastern Conference finals."

The finals, which will see Cleveland take on either the Atlanta Hawks or Washington Wizards, will get underway next Wednesday.
