Deron Williams: 'I don't feel so much like a New Yorker'

Brooklyn Nets guard Deron Williams says that he doesn't "feel so much like a New Yorker" despite having played for the franchise since 2011.

Brooklyn Nets point guard Deron Williams has revealed his discomfort with living in New York compared to his home state of Texas.

The experienced guard spent most of his career playing for the Utah Jazz, before making a move to New York in 2011 to turn out for the Nets.

"I'm not going to lie. I don't really feel so much like a New Yorker," said Williams in an interview with Resident Magazine.

"I grew up in an apartment in Texas where you could send your kids outside like 'yeah, go play in the sun.' Here it's more challenging. The process of getting them into school is a nightmare. Even private schools where you pay are an ordeal.

"In Utah, you just send your kids to the first public school in the area because they're all great. Truth is, we enjoy getting away from the hustle and bustle and going back to Utah every summer."

The next NBA season is due to commence on October 28, when current champions the San Antonio Spurs welcome the Dallas Mavericks.
