Lionel Hollins announced as Brooklyn Nets coach

The Brooklyn Nets confirm that they have hired Lionel Hollins as their new coach to replace Jason Kidd, who was traded away to the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Brooklyn Nets have announced that Lionel Hollins has become their new head following the departure of Jason Kidd.

Kidd left the club to join the Milwaukee Bucks in a trade deal after guiding the Nets to the playoffs in his sole season in charge, where they were defeated on the Conference semi-finals by the Miami Heat.

The Nets moved immediately for Hollins, who was available as he spent the 2013-14 season out of the game after leaving the Memphis Grizzlies.

Hollins has insisted that all he wants to focus on is coaching as his predecessor left under controversial circumstances.

He told reporters: "That's all I want to do. I'm a basketball coach. I don't want to do [general manager] Billy King's job.

"I don't want to do anybody else's job in the organisation but the one I'm hired to do."That's very important to me. I'm very low-maintenance.

"I'm actually embarrassed, I drove up to the [arena] and saw the [oculus] with my picture on it. I'm like, 'come on.' I just want to coach."

The Nets recorded a 44-38 record last season.
