MLB "working hard" on London game in 2017

MLB's commissioner Rob Manfred reveals that the league are "working hard" on bringing a regular-season game to London.

Major League Baseball have revealed that they are "working hard" to bring a regular-season game to London next year.

The league is keen to follow in the footsteps of the NFL and NBA, who stage multiple games in the British capital every season to sold-out audiences.

"We are very interested in playing there, and we're working hard on that one," said MLB commissioner Rob Manfred. "I don't think it will be an opener because of the weather issues. It would be later in the season.

"We haven't really settled on teams, and I don't want to speculate about [the location or teams]. Obviously, we want to make as good a first impression in Europe as we possibly can."

A game between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox has been touted as the ideal first game in London, with the Olympic Stadium the most likely venue.
