Usain Bolt and Justin Gatlin are both through to the semi-finals of the men's 100m at the World Athletics Championships after coasting through their heats.

Asafa Powell, who has said that he is aiming to run under 10 seconds as often as he can in Beijing, stayed true to his word by running 9.96s on his way to winning the opening heat, before Tyson Gay took heat two with a much slower 10.13s.

Great Britain's CJ Ujah is through after finishing second to promising US teenager Trayvon Bromell, who ran 9.91s from the outside lane.

Richard Kilty is also through as a fastest loser, but James Dasaolu is out following a time of 10.13s.
