Uganda's Moses Kipsiro has revealed that he was considering pulling out of the 10,000m before his victory at the Commonwealth Games.
The 27-year-old successfully defended his title in a thrilling race inside Hampden Park, but he claims that a knee problem almost caused him to abandon his plans to compete in Glasgow.
"I've been having a lot of injuries so my knee was very painful," Kipsiro BBC Sport. "I said I wasn't going to take part but something deep inside said 'you can make it'. I stuck to it and now I'm really happy."
Kenya's Josphat Bett finished second, with Cameron Levins of Canada claiming bronze.
